I’ve worn glasses since I was 6 or 7. I had the second surgery on my left eye five days ago and almost immediately it was clearer than it was before.
The vision in both eyes is better almost every day. I get up in the morning and it’s clearer. Definition is wonderful. If you can sit 30 or 40 feet away and pick out individual leaves on a tree, that’s not too bad.
Dr. Hollingshead and all of the support people have been absolutely wonderful. From the very first time I was in here…they’re friendly, they’re personable and they make you feel like they care. This is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I love it.

The main thing that I had to deal with as a teacher with the cataracts was having the cloudiness from the cataract blur what I was looking at whether it was the students, or what we were reading, or papers I was correcting.
The treatment, the professionalism at Dr. Hollingshead’s office was really outstanding. They took care of all my fears immediately and…I said to them you know, I’m afraid you need to help me out. They’re just aware that people are awfully sensitive about having their vision being corrected.
As a teacher, having this surgery has made me more relaxed in the classroom because I know that I’m aware of everything that’s going on in the classroom and I don’t have to worry about the clouds suddenly appearing on one eye or the other and blocking my vision partially…it’s so much easier now.

Well before I had the cataract surgery I had trouble seeing to build my radio control airplanes, I had trouble seeing invoices at work to read the numbers to get them right, I had trouble with tying flies—I tie flies for fishing.
I had to wear glasses from the time I was twelve or thirteen till the time I had cataract surgery. That’s fifty-five years of being miserable and having glasses that are like the bottom of a coke bottle, they’re heavy, they’re uncomfortable.
Now that I have had the cataract surgery, everything is easier. I can see everything, I can do everything I can see far off, I can see up close, and I just don’t have any problems seeing things now.
Well I’d just like to say about Dr. Hollingshead that he’s a very very good surgeon, he’s very professional, he cares about his patients, he’s not just there for money. He called me after the surgery for each eye to see how I was doing. This is after hours, when he should have been home, and he was concerned about whether or not I was doing well. I’m ecstatic about this whole thing to tell you the truth!

My vision actually affected a lot of things. It affected being able to see my son on the soccer field and not being able to recognize which one was him without having to wear my regular glasses and sunglasses at the same time. So here I’m on the soccer field wearing both sets of glasses and having all kinds of weird looks.
I was really pleasantly surprised at how fast it went. I was expecting to be here for a long time and you know the whole connotation that you have with surgery, but it lasted like six seconds maybe. Ten seconds on the other eye. So it was very short, very sweet.
My vision now is a 15/20 so it’s definitely different than what I’m used to. I can read a book now without having to wear my glasses and looking up and having a headache. I can do all kinds of sports without having to you know worry about my glasses. I don’t have to worry about contacts. My vision is fabulous, I absolutely love it. I just wish I would have done it a long time ago.

I’ve been wearing glasses and contacts since I was in the sixth grade and doing any outdoor activities has always been difficult with dragging glasses around or having contacts dry up on me and cause irritation. So, being outside was always difficult with the hassle of the contacts.
I could see a difference immediately. So, once you open your eyes you can see clearly. So, that was a great feeling after 20 years of wearing glasses.
Hollingshead Eye Center definitely made me feel comfortable with the surgery and they were very informative and very relaxed. So, I felt it was a very professional job and there’s no need to worry about being scared about the surgery because everything is very painless and very smooth.

I’ve worn glasses since I was a little girl and hated them. Some days I would dream about waking up in the middle of the night and being able to see when I when I got up in the morning.
Wearing contacts is a real pain when you are camping. You wake up in the morning and you can’t see anything and the first thing you have to do is wash your hands and try to find a place or a mirror to put those things in so that you can get your day started.
When I went in for my consultation the doctor and the staff were so nice, so knowledgeable and I was treated with respect and I felt totally comfortable trusting my eyes to the Hollingshead Eye Center. The experience was so simple, not what I had thought. There was no pain involved. It was straightforward and I was done in 10 minutes…and no more contacts.
